For my wife

December 16, 2011 1 comment

I dedicate this blog post to my wife, Debbie. For those not interested in personal entries about love and anniversaries, stop reading now and  come back for the next one.

Dearest Deborah,

Ten years ago, you smiled at me and replied, “I do,” when the minister asked if you wanted to be my wife. And so began, officially, our lives together. For me, the years have flown by faster than I could have possibly imagined. Yet at the same time, my love for you has grown by leaps and bounds, filling my heart with a joy I’ve never before experienced. Your eternal optimism, year after year, lifts my spirits and encourages me each and every day to be a better man and a better person. As the song so eloquently says, you raise me up to more than I can be. Thank you for always loving my two sons as your own, even when it wasn’t easy and was such a struggle during those early years. It simply amazes me how day after day, month after month, year after year, you so easily give of yourself to everyone in our family, never asking for anything in return, and are simply content with being who you are: a wife, mother, daughter, sister. I hope all those whose lives you touch, including me, never forget to let you know how very special you are.

You are my best friend and soul mate, and I look forward to growing old with you.

 Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
 When our time has come
 We will be as one
 God bless our love
 God bless our love

Happy tenth anniversary. Love you forever …
